Irish home energy management company climote has agreed a new partnership with Electric Ireland, the retail arm of the ESB Group, which will provide the opportunity for over one million Irish homeowners to purchase climote technology.

This is the first of a number of new contracts that climote are hoping to secure in the coming months and will set the company on the way to secure lucrative contracts with energy providers across the UK.

climote have developed an innovative remote control device for home heating, which enables consumers to control their home heating system using “smartphone” technology via their phone or computer.  The device is customer friendly, easy to use and provides a straightforward system for managing home heating.

Speaking at the announcement of the new contract which is estimated to be worth over €800,000, CEO and climote Founder Derek Roddy said, “Our team have developed a wonderfully simple and easy to use piece of technology that will revolutionise how people use their home heating system.  Based on over ten years of research and development, the climote system enables consumers to manage their heating systems and effectively control costs and environmental impact.  In addition, it provides the luxury of organising heating systems to ensure that a consumer always has the option of coming home to a warm home, by simply using their mobile phone.”

Formally launched in April 2012, climote is an Irish clean-tech start-up and has already won three prestigious awards, including Best Product of the Show Award at the Energy Show, held in conjunction with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.  The climote hub is the first in a whole new range of innovative products designed to enhance the life of consumers.
