Alexa FAQ’s

1. How do I set up my Echo Device?

You can visit amazon for more information on setting up your Echo device.

2. How do I enable Amazon Alexa to control my climote Hub?

In your Alexa App search for the climote skill and press enable. You will then be asked for your climote login details.

Before proceeding, ensure you have the following:

  • The email registered to your climote account and your climote device number. If you do not have your details, you can request them here.
  • An Amazon account. If you do not have an Amazon account, you can register one for free at https://alexa.amazon.com.

3. How do I talk to Alexa?

It’s easy to talk to Alexa, just say “Alexa, open climote”, and follow the prompts.

For example:
You:       “Alexa, open climote.”
Alexa:  “Welcome to climote skill. What would you like me to do?”
You:       “Boost heating for 1 hour.”
Alexa:  “Your heating had been boosted for 1 hour.”

Or you can ask Alexa directly without opening climote first, just say “Alexa, tell climote” or “Alexa, ask climote”, then continue with your commands in one sentence.

For example:
You:      “Alexa, ask climote to boost heating for 1 hour.”
Alexa:  “Your heating had been boosted for 1 hour.”

4. What can I do with climote and Alexa?

You can use your voice to control your home heating and hot water (providing you have the ability to control your water separately).

5. Alexa said my zone name is not recognised. Why?

Climote is a multi-zone heating system. Alexa will always accept the default zone names Living or Heating (zone 1) Bed (zone 2) and Water (zone 3), “All” for all zones together and many of the other commonly used zone names, such as heating, bedrooms, etc, if you have chosen one of these as your zone name.

Where a command shows the {zone name} in brackets, you can try your own zone name and if it matches the commonly used list, Alexa will send the instruction. If there is no match, Alexa will respond, suggesting that you use the default zone names instead.

6. My Amazon Echo isn’t working. What can I do?

You can get in touch with Amazon customer services.

Go to your Alexa App: Main Menu – Help & Feedback – Contact Us

They will be happy to assist you.

7. Why did Alexa respond with:”Your boost message has been sent. Would you like me to check if it has been applied?”

If Alexa doesn’t get a reply from the heating controller within eight seconds she offers you the option to check if the message was applied. In most cases it has and you can end the dialogue.
